Bill Clinton, Wise Statesman

Nobody’s perfect, but I think former President Bill Clinton is making a ton of sense these days…for the most part.

It’s so irritating that some people are so wedded to the view that there are a whole bunch of rich oldsters feeding at the Social Security trough that they refuse to look at the statistics showing the tiny number of actual rich oldsters. I believe that it was in the mid-’90s when someone did the math (you know–addition and subtraction) confirming that means-testing Social Security cost more than just giving the rich old the money.
If only Clinton made as much sense when he was in office. His support of NAFTA, and the repeal of Glass-Steagell under his watch didn’t win him any brownie points.
Wizened means shriveled or wrinkled, not old, wise and/or insightful. I hate being that guy, and I wouldn’t do it for any other word, but it’s a mistake I used to make frequently.
D’oh!
