Since the bottom of the recession real business investment has risen 18.6% this cycle as compared to a 4.6% increase at the comparable point in the 2000 cycle. Actually, it is even stronger this cycle than it was in the 1990s cycle were it was only up 15.5% 11 quarters from the bottom.

Or at least Americans. Is that a surprise? That’s what business does. Business does not exist for the benevlence of providing jobs. Jobs are a bi-product of a business necessity to produce a product or service. To compound the problem, if you are operating in a hostile business climate with constant threats of taxes, regulations and Government force – of course you are going to leave for greener pastures or automate as best you can.
