Musical Interlude: The Seasons

Stumbled on this wonderful old Steve Miller song, Seasons, guaranteed to thoroughly mellow you out.

I had this album back in 1969 when I was 14 and I still remember all the songs like it was yesterday.  My musical memory is much better than my other memory.

Musical memories do seem to be the last to go, and among musical memories, the lyrics to dumb pop songs are the most lasting. Long after I’ve forgotten my own phone number, the first few moves of the Ruy Lopez, and my grandchildren’s names, I’m sure I will recall every word of “Slow Boat to China”

Yikes! Time flys. I was 34 in 69 – too busy with jobs, marriage and children to focus on music. I was thinking you had another 10 years to go before arriving near the place I was in 69 and another 10 to get to 34. Those 20 years really make a difference. My wife is a 1946 edition of the boom and grew up in very much different circumstances than I. Our joint experiences make for some interesting conversations.
