The (Counter) Attack of General Ezra and the Wonk Army

I’m swamped today–Diane Rehm Show at 10 on the Ryan Budget, Medicare, et al, and book talk later commenting on Jeff Faux’s very compelling new book: The Servant Economy.

BUT…OMG. Ezra Klein and his Wonkbook team provide such a treasure trove of trenchant treats analyzing the campaigns’ dust  up over Medicare that OTE’ers will not go wanting for their morning dose of fact-based reality checks.

There’s this, and this, and this, all with many more links therein.  Have fun in the weeds and I’ll catch up with you later.

I feel strongly that we are witnessing the inevitable implosion of the Reagan Revolution. The GOP has slipped so far to the right that they’ve lost all perspective of what “conservative” once stood for. To call Paul Ryan a “fiscal conservative” is truly a misnomer – what fiscal conservative would have endorsed the B#%h tax cuts without finding a way of paying for them, ditto; two unfunded wars. When I hear the Right tout their positions on anything, from the economy to personal rights, to foreign relations, to….whatever, their projected results do not add up to the actual effects of their actions.

    Chaos and confusion reigns rampant!

  2. I listened to all of Dianne’s show. Great job! I especially appreciate how you called out Mary Grace on her statement that Medicare Advantage was a good example of how private insurance is cheaper than Medicare.

I get really frustrated watching the PBS News Hour and listing to NPR and hearing all these Heritage Foundation folks just lie with impunity. How can we get the word to the electorate when there is so much misinformation.

Keep up the good work you do!
