So I’m in the car the other night and for some reason there was a story about the movie “Election” (good movie, great book). Anyway, they played the soundtrack in the background for a moment and there was this great jazz tune I recalled from years ago: the Jody Grind by Horace Silver.
It’s a little slice of funky jazz with a melody that—warning—may get stuck in your head like it is in mine, nudging out less melodic thoughts about budget basslines [sic] and oil price forecasts.
I can sure hear the ’60s in that tune. Great bass line.
I’ve been told that “Girl from Ipanema” is the sure-fire cure-all for ear worms. Try singing that and see if you still hear the Jody Grind in your head.
Hmmm…that might work!
My husband’s NFP big band that plays that tune. It’s great! and a crowd pleaser.
