So I’m hanging out in the WAMU radio studio the other day waiting to go on the Diane Rehm show, I go to hang up my coat, and who do I run into? No less than the supremely awesome Carole King. I was totally star struck. I gave her a big hug and thanked her profusely for bringing so much musical joy into the lives of me and everyone else in my cohort. Then, just to show my cred, I sang a couple of bars to one of her first hits, from the Brill Building days (she politely smiled, averting her eyes and ears).
She was here in DC promoting the reintroduction of the Equal Rights Amendment and environmental causes with which she’s been long associated. Check out her great show with Diane.
Yeah, I tuned into Diane Rehm, but was too late to hear you and caught Carole King instead…..it was a pleasant surprise.
You were too late baby, just too late, but you really did try to make it.
So way cool.
Best kind indeed (except for singing, fawning praise would have worked better).
Thank you for the Carole King video. She is still amazing! God, I hope you have a better voice than I do…
