If you read some of the news from AL, a great deal of the opposition comes, not from businesses in Birmingham, but from bedroom communities with (in one case) median home prices in the $400K range.
They’re not looking to keep businesses there, they’re looking to keep cheap labor there from moving to places where the pay is better.
In the Deep South, some things never change.
