Two goodies this week.
First, A Whiter Shade of Pale is a classic from my youth. And while Procol Harum’s original version still sounds as great as ever, this version by Annie Lenox is beautifully ethereal.
Second, this one goes out to Herman Cain, who decided to drop the middle 9 (the income tax part) from his 9-9-9 for poor families…it’s the Beatles, live on top of the Apple Records building, playing One After 9-0-9!
…it was late afternoon & had just returned from spear fishing for dinner in a cove west of Palma Nova, Mallorca with my best friend & our 10th grade school teacher, Gary. He had a couple of English birds down from London for a fortnight & they were packing the newest vinyl the rock scene had to offer. A Lighter Shade was spun & I was done…haven’t been the same since.
Thanks for stirring the fondest of memories.
After 9-0-9 by the Beatles was a great choice for this week. After Herman Cain proposed his 9-9-9 plan and then revised it to the 9-0-9 plan.
Nice, buckaroo.
Regarding Annie Lenox: underappreciated in the US. I was sort of lost music wise during much of the 80s. I always thought she transcended her time.
Regards.
