    Isn’t the US government designed to be gridlocked ? I thought this was the basic idea of the system.

    Obama isn’t popular enough to be able to claim a mandate to do whatever he wants. His number are Bush-like right now. He’s only popular in comparison to McConnell, Boehner, Cruz and the rest.
