I know—I should bring you up-to-date on the latest drama in the down-to-the-wire debt-ceiling debate, but I just can’t do it. Suffice it to say that there are House R’s turning against Rep Boehner’s deficit reduction plan because it’s too liberal (he had to convince Rush today that there wasn’t a secret tax increase hiding in there somewhere).
On the positive side, the President suggested he would veto the Boehner plan, in no small part because it calls for raising the ceiling in two steps. That’s right. In case you thought this wasn’t enough fun this time around, the speaker’s plan gets you back here again in a few months.
I’ve got a better idea: some entrepreneur out there should mass produce this tee-shirt (made in America, pls), designed by my colleague Andrea Gal. I suspect given the mood of the country around this issue, it would be a huge seller. Proceeds should go to a jobs bill, not to deficit reduction!
Put me on the list to buy one. I’m thinking a $25 donation should more than cover the cost plus shipping and still leave a margin for job creation.
If nothing else, people wearing this t-shirt will look back on these innocent times with nostalgia in 2014 when President Bachmann asks us to add $4 trillion to the deficit to eliminate all taxes for the wealthiest 1% and pay them an annual subsidy so they can continue creating jobs.
You could get them done at http://www.cafepress.com/
If House R’s feel Boehner’s plan is too liberal, I can’t imgagine how they will feel about the fallback option of supporting Reid’s plan. By the way, please thank your colleague Andrea Gal for the shirt design; I love it! Keep us updated if anyone decides to start producing it.
LOL! Will Obama model?
