IE, tomorrow AM the Census Bureau will host a webinar wherein they release poverty and household income results for 2013. I’ve got some speculation as to what we might see over at the Upshot.
As you’ll see, it looks to me like inequality and fiscal drag have dampened gains in poverty and median household incomes, even at recovery year 4. That said, I expect at least slight improvements and suggest that the poverty rate could do a bit better (fall more) than my forecast, based on a number of correlating indicators and cyclical momentum.
I think the Census Bureau should hand out Prozac when releasing these numbers. Just too depressing.
